Just as the human population reached an all-time high of 8.3 billion in the year 2025, a solar superflare nearly 200 times stronger than any known to humankind struck Earth. “The Accident,” as it has come to be know, set in motion a domino effect of precipitous population decline. Now, in the year A+72 (2097), with only a few million of us left, people have even lost the will to reproduce. Left to its own devices, the human race faces imminent extinction.
In this bleak world, the Family Copoli travels around performing their signature vaudevillian burlesque revue to generate laughter, delight, diversion, and, most importantly, libido to incite the survivors to copulate, repopulate, and, ultimately, save our species. Behind the scenes, however, family secrets threaten the troupe’s ability to carry on…

The Family Copoli: a post-apocalyptic burlesque and repopulation play is the brainchild of American theatre-maker Andy Colpitts and British composer Michael Wookey. They began writing the show in 2018 while living in Paris, France. It’s an exuberant, irreverent and dark exploration of entertainment at the end of days and the limits of family love. Filled with cabaret stylings and golden-age Broadway callbacks, its folk-pop score is sure to set you in a tizzy.
After half a decade of steady cultivation, The Family Copoli recently had a critically-acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was played at The SpaceUK. It’s laying fallow now, but further growth is on the horizon…
